Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 May 2026

In plain English

Akshaya Tree is a private app for individual families. Your family's tree, photos, posts and comments are visible only to people the family admin has invited. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't share anything with third parties beyond the cloud services that store the data for you.

Who this policy is from

Akshaya Tree is built and operated by an individual developer (the "we", "us", "our" in this policy) and is provided as a private tool for families to record and share their family tree.

You can contact us at designer.deepakraj@gmail.com for any privacy questions.

What data we collect

From you when you sign in

Data you add to the app yourself

Data we do not collect

Where your data lives

Your family's data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore Database, Authentication and Hosting) provided by Google LLC. Photos may additionally be stored on Cloudinary as image hosting. Both are widely-used cloud platforms with their own privacy policies:

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Google Sign-In; the app itself never sees or stores your Google password.

Who can see your data

Akshaya Tree is invitation-only. Only people whose email address has been added to your family's allowlist by the family admin can sign in and view the tree, posts, comments or photos. The app is not indexed by search engines, not publicly browsable, and no one outside your family's allowlist can read any of the data — including us as the developer (we do not routinely view family data, though we have technical access to fix problems if you ask).

We do not sell or share family data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

How long we keep your data

Family data is kept as long as the family wants to use the app. If you would like your personal data removed:

Children's privacy

Akshaya Tree is intended for use by family members aged 13 and over. Younger children may appear in the family tree (added by adult relatives), but only their basic details — first name, birth year, and a parent-supplied photo — are stored. Children under 13 are not expected to sign in to the app themselves.

Notifications and device permissions

On Android, the app may ask for permission to show notifications (used to remind you of family birthdays and events). Notifications are scheduled and fired entirely on your device. We do not send any remote push notifications.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, the new version will appear on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
